Sede vacante, as they say in the Vatican. But how will the new man (or woman? Oh, OK) handle the challenges of leading the Roman Catholic Church through the coming decades? The Critic has been canvassing our top sources for suggestions.
JD Vance: “Look, he was alive when I left the room. Though I found his attitude frankly disrespectful. He wasn’t even wearing a suit. And while we’re on the subject, when has God ever said “Thank you” for everything America has done?”
I hope you had a lovely Easter. I saw Warfare, which is terrific if you like that kind of thing. I also went to Oliver!, which I haven’t seen since I was about seven. I don’t usually go to big musicals, and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing what a top show can deliver. I do on the other hand go to everything that Mischief Theatre put on, and my family and I thoroughly enjoyed The Comedy About Spies.
I also spent the holidays watching war films. My podcast War Movie Theatre is back, with episodes on Dunkirk and Red Dawn. More coming every Thursday until we’re exhausted. Listen here, or wherever you get your podcasts.
